For pete's sake, Disney animated films have always been known for having their terrifying visual moments, ever since some kiddies went into shrieking hysterics over the witch in
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
. Even their classic live-action films have some moments that, if you think about it, might not logically seem 'G' friendly, like the sequence in
The Three Lives of Thomasina
, where the veterinarian dad heartlessly allows his daughter's pet cat to die of lockjaw. Disney knew kids have an acceptable 'scare threshold', just as adults do, and a measured amount of scary trauma is welcomed by them as long as everything is put right at the end. -

My friends made me watch the Netflix Little Mermaid a few nights ago which has nothing to do with the original tale.
