I'll admit it, I found Dil to be pretty attractive!

"Barking up the wrong tree" as you say does NOT make a man less than heterosexual. It simply means the transvestite/transexual passes as a woman very effectively. And "there are no Hetero men"? Sorry, you are quite wrong. Perhaps wishful thinking on your part, but you are still dead wrong.

But the character is transgendered, and 'she' is strikingly beautiful, especially the hair. In some ways the camera angles sometimes give her a slightly more masculine look, but the voice is very female and the dubbed singing adds to the whole image of course. I wonder what Jaye's singing voice was like.

whatever floats your boat…
Row row row your boat.
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily.
Life is but a dream.
Hmmm…
It's not the boat.
It's the ocean what makes the motion.

Who says Dil was transgendered? I don't remember that being said in the movie. I personally found him quite attractive at first, I definitely did when I saw it as a kid, but this time I just kept noticing the jaw and the stubble. As soon as he had his hair cut and put on the cricket top though, it was over.

Ya i just watched this moments ago without knowing the big twist.
I found Dil attractive too. And I remember when it got to the "the scene" where we see the camera panning down from Dil's face, my line of thought was pretty much this:
"ooh here comes the sex scene; mm pretty face and ok.. she's very very flat chested.Oh my god!"
I actually felt sick like Fergus was.
To be fair, most transexuals have some kind of obvious masculine feature that gives them away and Dil just didn't have any of those.
First time I've ever been fooled in this way

Dear God on this green Earth, THANK YOU STUDMAN for pointing this out. It's so irritating to read the ignorant posts here where people, who are not stupid, they're just ignorant, try to "explain Jaye/Dil away" as being TG.
Are you (ignorant posters) forgetting this a MOVIE? In movies, people play roles. I assume some of you think Christian Bale really runs around in a latex bat suit too? I mean heck, THAT was a character too.
Sic vis pacem para bellum.
