    They don't bother to explain exactly where the magic potion came from. If the movie were made today, they'd have a five minute scene explaining everything about where the potion came from, who made it, why it was made in the first place, what chemicals are in it, etc.
    Leaving it up for the viewer to speculate its origins is so much more interesting than some banal explanation.

      You know what? You're absolutely right! It makes the potion even more mysterious. I like that it has a sense of ambiguity to it. As you said, we can come up with our own explanations for it and not have it spoon fed to us.

        Yep totally agree, everything needs a back story nowadays. Had the movie been a box office smash we would get a full prequel now
