If my wife wanted to sleep with another man so much that she would actually go ahead and do it then there's nothing I could or would do to stop it. After nearly 10 years the poor woman needs a change!
If we stood to make a million out of it AND she wanted to do it (ie Robert Redford - "yesss pleeeeessse!" then NOOOOOOO problem.
That's where my butt cheeks start to clench watching this movie when Woody Harrelson start to act like such a WUSS - I mean GET OVER IT!!!
The makers of this film originally wanted Dustin Hoffman to play John Gage - just to make it a little more of a dilemma. It was vetoed by the execs / backers. -

Thank God for that. Robert Redford was the ONLY choice for this role.
He's so yummy. STILL.
He reminds me of a vanilla ice cream cone. I just want to lick him sigh
But then Woody Harrelson is HOT too. His character is just rougher around the edges due to his humble circumstances. -

To quote The Fonz, Exactamonto, I feel the same way about my wife, she's not some cheap 20 dollar whore. Hookers 20 dollars, expensive Jewelery over a thousand
my wife Priceless, there are somethings you can by my wife is not one of them.
I would'nt even let my Kid sister have sex with a guy for a Million dollars,no
sir, no kid sister of mine is going to bring shame upon herself and my mom, (that's already been my dad's job (I'd rather clip old fungus toenails than ever see his no good rotten face again) I know what it's like to grow up poor and see my mom struggle without a husband and me and my sister without a father so money has little value over my love for my family and our honor and integrity.

Deal! What's your address? You mean a million dollars right? American currency? Not like halibut or some nonstandard unit like millionths of a penny

The average person in our society prostitutes their decency, their creativity, their morality, and their autonomy so that they can make a living. Prostituting your body once for a million dollars is just doing the same damn thing, only it's more honest. Not to mention more profitable.

Damn Straight -
There's some real good ol' fashioned double standards coming into play here.
The main point of my original post above was 'IF SHE WANTED TO DO IT' - i.e. if my wife thought the guy was hot and wanted to sleep with him AND there was a million dollars in it for our future then NO PROBLEMO!!
Because, if the tables were turned and a hot lady offered me a million bucks to spend a night of passion with her (unlikely but undulge me anyway) my wife would KICK MY ASS if I said no.
WHY?
Because a million dollars would set us up for the rest of our lives and open the door to having a family.
AND we love each other hugely and are secure enough in our relationship to know the difference between recreation and serious commitment.
The crux is - if someone is offering to pay a million to do something ENJOYABLE and FUN then where's the harm.
If, however, the person waving the money was not attractive to my wife then no amount of cash would make her go anywhere near. That's the difference between her and a prostitute.
As I said previously - the whole point of the original screenplay was the millionaire wasn't particularly attractive. The writers wanted Dustin Hoffman (attractive but in a less obvious way)in the role thus creating a real dilemma.
The studio hierachy bumped him for the relative eye-candy of Robert Redford which really defeated the whole object of the film.
