OK, Fratinside. Relax. I'm a Canadian, too, and I'm sure that the OP is making a joke. Seriously, what threat are we to Americans? Would we "polite" them to death? Get them hooked on Tim Hortons coffee? You need to calm down, dear. It's comment like yours that will get the Americans all riled up and defensive.

I like Canadians, those I've met. I'd even say some are my best friends but you know how that sounds.
But why????? Why Canada, did you do the one most unforgivable thing it's possible for one nation to do to another?????
Why did you send BILL SHATNER down here???? Do you really hate us that much???? -

Aww look at the yank who isn't aware that Canadians are just saying the same thing the rest of the world does. Your stereotypes were not invented by the canucks, they were invented by millions of your people acting like dipshits for decades, noticed worldwide since before you were even born

Well.. Im going to go now… gonna get some bacon and beer.. take now ,eh?"
Yikes.
You really thought you wrote a profound post then thought this was a good comedic line to end off on? How adorable, you going to tip your fedora next? -

"America would get it's ass kicked if it tried. Just look at how much trouble they have controlling a bunch of primitives over in Iraq. "
That is very true if their objective was only to occupy a country and keep the populace out of direct conflict. But, if the objective was extermination, then take the land as they saw fit, that would be another story entirely. Unless of course the lumberjacks and mounties could stop a millitary force that outnumbered them 20 to 1. That offensive would be over in less than a month (unless it was the middle of winter..lol)
But Canada and America are allies. Canada has fought in many conflict with the US side by side. You get some false egos on either side trying to compensate for their own personal multitude of problems.. but both countries are better than most to live in. -

Yah but remember Canada has Nuclear Power Plantswhich means we have Nuclear material which means that it ain't that hard to make a dirty bomb and beep the U.S of A.
It's true the US military outnumbers the Canadian Military, but don't forget there are plenty of people like me who would become guerrilla fighters, with all the gadgets, tech and resources at my disposal I can do a whole hell of a lot more damage than a guerrilla fighter in places like Iraq where many modern technologies are not so easily acquired.
But it's irrevelant really as I don't think Canada and the US would go to warwhat would be the point? But maybe if the US government tries to grab our artic territories. -

"If Quebec seperates from Canada, the other 9 provinces and 3 territories will just join them. The beautiful nation of Quebec. And then, we'll have a referendum and change the name back to Canada."
lol
But I don't really see America and Canada in a war. Remember it's not the peoples choice but the generals and military leaders actions. Yeah it's true the American Milatary would outnumber Canadian forces but since its an invasion there would be much more Gurilla forces that which would surely add onto the Canadian armed forces. And if it's war with Canada then the commonwealth nations would join in. (India,Australia,UK,African CW countries,New zealand ect.) The only ally America might have is Quebec but that's only if they choose to depart. -

If the US attacked the C it would basically be a continent sized Civil War.
As far as I'm concerned we're all one big country, anyway.
We Michiganders, your nervous neighbors to the south (and west), will merely need a driver's license and/or state ID to inva,,,errr,,,visit your side of the line soon.
I'll be invading your Winsor casinos in the near future.

Umm, no lol. I'm a Canadian and proud of it, the U.S. is arbitary. What goes on there in terms of politics, social standards, and other internal matters is your concern, what goes on here, ours. I do not want to be an American, I'm Canadian, and I love it here.
That said I have enjoyed my visits to the U.S., had some good times down below, it's an ok country. -

This post is very funny.
US military could tear down Canada in like what20 minutes?
Drop some paratrooper at strategic point, cut out communication and Canada is done. And you truly think UK, australia or India could change that?
Canada is kind of the 51th american state, canadian hate american just so they can beleive they are somewhat different ''geez''.
1812, was 1812, at the time US did'nt haad a military like nowaday and Canada can't count on ''indians'' ally anymore!
Canadians, stop beleiving you are so different from americans
You listen to same artist, view the same movies, eat the same food, speak the same langage etc.
The only ''part'' of Canada that is different historically, and culturally is Quebec, as we have our own culture, our own artist, our own gastronomic specifities (Damn, poutine is so good) you even ripped the name of our ancestor (canadian is historycally inacurate, Canadien that what we use to call us, before you stole the name from us)and our own langage.
Canada is a country build up on loyalist who side up with the brtish crown.
Before the american revolution, english canada was justnothing, it did not exist.
Go on, tell me what different there is , really, between new-england aera and ontario? between vancouver and Seattle.
Truly, it sad for you not aknowledging this, and i do understand why you so much want to keep us in Canada (by cheating in referendum for exemple)
And as a Quebecois artist ''mononc Serge'' say, ''Canada is not my country''
Vivement l'indpendance du Quebec!
Oh, and by the way, Hockey is as popular in nothern state than it in Canada -

Two out of three Canadians live on the US-Canadian border. If you hate the US so much, get the beep away from us.
Two out of three Canadians live on the US-Canadian border? Did you skip geography? Where do you get this crap from? -

"Two out of three Canadians live on the US-Canadian border. If you hate the US so much, get the beep away from us."
That is one of the stupidest things I have ever read.
It doesn't make any sense. Yes, some Candians live on the border. BUT NOT TWO THIRDS OF OUR POPULATION.
Some Americans live on the border, too. If you hate Canada so much, move it.

The reply is all in good fun I doubt any sane person would believe the two would ever fight

"Yah but remember Canada has Nuclear Power Plantswhich means we have Nuclear material which means that it ain't that hard to make a dirty bomb and beep the U.S of A."
Very true..if its was an annouced attack. But if the plants were levelled in an immediate airstrike, there would be little time to obtain enough enriched uranium. You would have most in those facilities trying to leave but it would likely be a night attack with minimal staff or chance to respond.
"It's true the US military outnumbers the Canadian Military, but don't forget there are plenty of people like me who would become guerrilla fighters, with all the gadgets, tech and resources at my disposal I can do a whole hell of a lot more damage than a guerrilla fighter in places like Iraq where many modern technologies are not so easily acquired."
If they sought to hold the cities, then guerilla tactics would work. But if they levelled the cities and destroyed the infrastructure, then it would be a tough approach to disrupt newly held territories. Say a one mile perimeter was established and the millitary there therefore had clear visibility, fortified position, etc. You think the few survivors left could make any approach? They could try for a convoy or two perhaps. But if the gloves were off and the millitary shot on site with superior firepower, the efforts from the decimated populace would yield minimal results.
"But it's irrevelant really as I don't think Canada and the US would go to warwhat would be the point? But maybe if the US government tries to grab our artic territories."
I doubt they would. Theyd just borrow more money from China and pay Canada for the resources, eh?

If the US were to go to war with a neighbour they'd fight Mexico first, there's far less foreign trade at stake. I could see the US take on Canada but only if it were part of a bigger war in which the two joined opposite sides. It wouldn't be just US vs. Canada. Like it or not Canada does have far more allies who would defend them than the states. Let's face it if it did happen it would be the US starting it, Canada never starts wars.

It boggles the mind that this thread, posted with obvious tongue in cheek on June 1,
2003
is getting both Canadians and Americans so riled. Who really believes that Canadians are threatening? The OP said
"I say we take a hint from this movie and attack now! Who's with me?!?!"
Come on. That's funny! But there seems to be very few who see the humour in this.
I can only imagine that anyone who is living outside of the US or Canada and reading this thread must think that both countries are the biggest cry babies on the face of the earth.
Can we just all get a sense of humour instead of being but the butt of the joke? And kevjohn, you silly OP you, what do you think of what you've created?
