Yikes! I don't think a nursing home would have coped with Vera. It was perhaps a godsend for both nursing staff and other residents that she wasn't placed in one. Besides, Dolores had a comfortable roof over her head by being Vera's aid, and this was something she ended up acquiring for herself.
She took better care of Vera than anyone else could and she could read that snake like a book.

Terrific! I love both the novel and the movie. The novel is more intimate in nature, but the film still gets a fine balance by expanding the story to give us Selena's tale and side of the story too.

I have read most of King's novels up until the early 90's. The last one of his I read was the late 90's,
The Green Mile
.
Dolores Claiborne
I have read over and over again. It is one fine story and this is about real life's horrors and sufferings without all the supernatural trappings.
