Are we sure that the son is his?

That's kind of how the terrible source material was. The coincidences were way more ridiculous. Same with Gump & Co., the sequel. He goes to space with a chimp in the first I think. Forrest is more like our Koik here. Much less likable than Tom Hanks.

I was wondering this. Jenny seemed to know she was dying. She might have thought just tell Forrest the kid is his so he would look after him.
A couple of reasons why I think Forrest is the father however, she named her son after him, and I think at some point Forrest would look at his date of birth and roughly work out the period that Jenny was staying with him, unless he was conceived soon after. -

They need to take a DNA test but every time it comes up FG is too dumb to understand.
“To confirm the kid is yours, Forrest, we are going to need you to take a DNA test.”
“Sir, I have never had a need to drive a car, though I have driven a boat and a mower, when I just run everywhere. I don’t need to go to the DMV.”
“DNR means we look at your son’s genes.”
“Oh. He don’t need a test for that when you can see he is wearing jeans right there.”
