Good lord, whose voting here, a bunch of twelve-year-olds?

Very well said, but "Dog piling" on Hanks is not at all out of bounds if you believe his performance merits it, and thus, adds to the poor experience of watching the film. Why not?
Perhaps you are a Hanks fan, and fans do not like to have their hero's criticized. -

OK, then how do you account for the movie's stunning box-office take? It's not enough to say "Oh geez, some folks just have bad taste!" What if, in fact, it's YOU that has the faulty taste, not the public at large?

I will say 12 year olds aren't even a target audience for this film. I saw this when I was 10 and didn't care for it mainly because I was more into films like Ghostbusters and Arnold Schwarzenegger films. Watching a drama is not something a 12 year old wants to do.

Wow. Brilliant analysis. If the Mona Lisa were painted today, it would be trash. If Beethoven's Fifth were written today, it would . . . etc, etc
"Forrest Gump" was made when it was made. And it sucks, WHEN it was made. When you grow up, you'll understand more. (Well, maybe not.. .) -

If it were made in the 1950s, it would probably seem better, because most of the films that it plagiarizes from (including but not limited to Little Big Man, Superman, Zelig, The Great Santini, Midnight Cowboy, etc.) weren't made yet.

Forrest and Clark Kent both live in small towns and are able to outrun cars full of idiot bullies.
Okay. I'll give you that except that in Superman the so called bullies aren't trying to run him over.

It's a film about a man-child who lucks his way through life. I f%cking can't stand this piece of sh!!t film. Forrest Gump is one of the least relatable characters I've ever seen. I can't believe anyone took the effort to conceive this character, first on page and then on screen.
