It was only a matter of time, hun. For what it's worth, I never read the book. And yes, yes, I do love this movie for being visually appealing, and of course, the soundtrack is right up my alley.
I am never going to live this down. . .
I'm not really a fan of Anne Rice's writing except for her
Claiming of Sleeping Beauty Trilogy
series. Nothing vampiric about that.
As far as vampires go, I'd recommend
Carmilla

Of its own, it would be good movie. But as an adaptation from the novel, I agree it's a terrible movie. However, you can't deny they have excellent character's makeup and wardrobe/getups. They looked great, especially Aaliyah as Queen Akasha. I remember she was iconic back then, even after her unfortunate death.

I'm still reading The Vampire Lestat and I'm loving it so far.
When I was a young teenager, I watched the IWTV and I thought he was a whiny dick and a control freak. I remember I saw him as a villain and Louis/Claudia as good guys and I hated Lestat lived and overall hated the movie because "bad guys win". How young and naive I was…..But when I got older and watched the movie again, I understood him better than I was when I was kid and I loved the movie. I was annoyed with Louis and I understand what you mean with the last sentence.
Honestly, I wish he would turn me into vampire.
