Im not sure is the twist ending that I like. I think I like all of it. It is never really bad. Just some really depressing parts but the film itself as a whole is quite good. From top to bottom. Easily rewatchable.

I like it how Andy is just gone.
Starting with how quickly Red comes out and looks down and doesn't see him because he is worried that Andy is dead after asking for that rope.
Then the Warden throws that rock at the poster making a hole and you hear the rock trickle down the hole.
Sticks his hand through the poster and there is the hole.

yea I like that scene and was just watching it but I later thought about it. It doesnt make any sense? He is going to be digging for about 19 years and nobody would notice all the dust and rocks under and around the wall? Nobody would check the poster? Nobody would notice these huge holes on the other side? Nobody is going to hear the noise he makes for 19 years and is he really going to take all the rocks and dust to the outside by his pants and then again nobody is going to notice his pants full of dust and rocks and when he is outside nobody is going to see the dust and rocks he is piling up outside? All of this 19 years and then at the end nobody notices he is wearing other shoes. The many times he got caught in trouble or they hated him nobody thought about wrecking his room and destroying it all catching something suspicious in the act? All of this for 19 YEARS!!? Where he might've even gotten paroled in the last one. All of this effort and countless sleepless nights for one year? Makes no sense.

yea goes with the story and to add to that angle. He of course was never transferred to anywhere. Even for bad or good behavior. It was his own private room where nobody touched anything and people fell for the hammer in the book trick.

He of course also couldve been lucked that he had somehow the corner or the wall where it lead to the escape but for 19 years nobody checked that section even for repair or maintenance which somehow lead him free.

Well, ya know… movies.
LOL
And what else makes it unbelievable is that his cell remained untouched for the two months he was in solitary?
There are little things in public IRL one can do without getting caught.
For example I have been writing the words, "Collecter's Item" on Aunt Jemima products in a groc. store for my own grins and giggles.
I have done it more than once and have yet to be caught.
There are other little things I have done in public, that I cannot think of at the moment, that were not exactly illegal but I might have gotten into trouble if I had been seen.
So I think Andy can get away with little things such as cleaning up and getting rid of the dirt in the yard. -

We're not talking about some chalk and dust. Where talking about an entire hole in a wall plus all he had to dig for 19 years to get out. You really think nobody would notice any of that? Especially the guards that notice everything. They somehow didnt make an example out of him by actually bbquing his library like he said he would. Had he done that he couldve easily found at least the hammer. Without the hammer, no more digging. I dont think it makes sense how they didnt tear his room apart just to make an example and that wouldve easily gotten clues. The dust? He'd have to somehow clean every spec off the ground and wall and then somehow not get caught dragging dirt all around. Just for starters. Not to mention the clothes dusted up plus the piles of sands and rocks he'd have to leave somewhere on the outside without anybody noticing. He'd always be covered in dust which anybody would notice and suspect. The guards were also extra soft on Red when Andy escaped. In real life they'd have him crying confessing to the hammer plus his odd behavior lately, plus the rope, and on and on till they probably killed him.

The methane gas in the poop pipe would have killed Andy so you gotta suspend disbelief for that too.
Let's talk about Red and the hayfield.
Three things.- I like how they show the shelf in the pawn shop with the guns making you think that is what Red is contemplating getting and it was the compasses he was looking at instead.
- I wonder how long it took him to find it and would that have even been possible to have found it at all?
It seems like it was tucked away surrounded by other fields as opposed to being off a road. - Did you ever notice how when Red finds the rock how he looks around to check to see if anyone else is there at least twice?
I thought that was a nice touch.

yea, somehow I let that one go because in the weirdest sense I thought he can get passed that. I mean 500 yards is not impossible but they dont really show how pale blue he'd be once he gets out. THey dont even show him covered at all from head to toe with ****. He'd probably puke at least a dozen times.
I dont even consider Red at all. I always thought he was too stupid and it really gets me that he's not even supposed to be black.
To me the Movie really ends once he gets out. Everything else is just filler including the people getting it.
I never liked their dynamic. It seems fake because in real life blacks and whites dont get along but this issue is not really brought up in the movie and they get along fine. Even if they are both white do you really think people trust each other so good? Especially with that sweet note ending. Seems too romantic and fictional. They portray Andy almost like a God but why would he give a **** about Red or the rocker, or anyone else? Since when bankers, lawyers, whites any good? In real life he mightve gotten along just fine with the warden and the warden wouldve just gave him a piece of the pie. END OF STORY!
