That's a shame. I've seen just about every interpretation of "Les Miserables" out there & this is the best by far. Nothing else captures what Hugo was really trying to say except the book itself.

I have a version dubbed to Hungarian. I recorded it from TV
I'd be happy to see it in original with Hungarian or English or Spanish subtitles..
Please release this on DVD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have also been looking for the DVD version. I do have it on Laser disc with subtitles though. I am going to attempt to copy it to DVD, but it won't work like a nomal DVD. It's just a copy.

I don't know of a DVD for this particular interpretation, but there are many others you might want to try.

Exactly. I can get garbage 24x7 and I can't get a DVD of this brilliant film. Interesting that I did see a Region 2 DVD available at Amazon. So they can't even get a few copies of a Region 1 print distributed to Netflix?
            What up.

It's a shame. I remember renting this movie to watch one night. I had heard this movie was good, so I rented it. It was brilliant. To friends stop by and watched it with me on a whim (though both professed hating subtitles. Both loved it as much as I did. I thought about it the other day and decided my wife would love it. Not available on net flix. So sad.

That is good news. Do you know which studio/distributor is to release it? I can't find a listing for it anywhere on Amazon.
Update: Apparently it is to be released by Rhino:

Looks like the wait for a Region 1 DVD release of this one goes on: that earlier report seems to be in error; the Feb 2008 DVD release is of a concert version of the musical, performed at the Royal Albert Hall (in 1995) in honour of the play's 10th anniversary.

It's available here in the US with subtitles, but in cassette and it costs like 30 dollars.

It is now available from Starz Play on Netflix Instant View. But not yet available on Netflix DVD.
