I didn't see this in the theater. Watching for the first time on Netflix.
I have to comment, though. Why would parents take a 4 year old to see this? Was it promoted as family friendly? PG 13 for a reason. sheesh. -

I went to see it in the theater with my older brother. I was 15. We sat in the back, and what I remember most is we sat back there laughing at how fake the attack scenes and the snake looked.
-Dad, who's that?
-Oh, that? One of my patients. He'ssick.
-Will he live?
-It's looking grim. -

I did the same thing, I was 12. Played a little game called guess who gets eaten next - we were right every time.
Is this not what you were supposed to do? Don't see how anyone can enjoy this on its own merits

I remember I saw this in theaters with my dad when I was 13. The fact that this is nearly 20 years old makes me feel really old. I watched it again today on DVD and I have to say that the effects are actually pretty decent as I think that late 90s movies look good because they were just starting to use CGI but they weren't overdoing it, so films from that era tend to have aged pretty well and still are pretty decent now.

Not only did I see this in the theater, I was working at the theater when this came out. It actually did fairly well at ours because of Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube. We had this in our largest theater for a couple of weeks. In fact, I even remember the movie that replaced this in our largest theater; "Breakdown".

I saw it way back when the same night as The Relic. They were both 15 certificates. I was 15 in '97. The cinema was the odeon. After it closed, to make way for a new, bigger one, the building was turned into a bowling alley. That closed. Now it's a park n stride.

I did. Several times. I was about 11. It was a lot of fun and all the kids in my school was raving about it and scared. It helped that earlier in my youth I went to a lot of field trips and to the everglades. So I was familiar with reptilians thought was unrealistic. I kept thinking it doesnt look like a snake and I doubt a snake would act like that. Which is probably why I was going for Voight's character of capturing it and trying to save it.
