I saw that documentary about two years ago after asking if homosexuality bumped up age-ratings in video games and movies.
So was it the dead baby?

SPOILER I reckon it may have been Claudia "Doing her wifely duties" as she put it, trying to conceive again with her husband sick, bed-ridden, and held captive. Rape should be rated R, I guess?

I just don't get it. The Messenger had more gore and profanity and it got a PG-13.
        Well, the version
        I
        saw was PG-13.

I love your signature! I've seen MASH a zillion times and that line uttered by the underated Larry Linville is priceless.

there is a rape attempt, but it was stopped in the before it started with a knife.
murders, animal killing(raven), dogs attacks and more.
they also probably rated it R because teen-adult relationship.
according to american rating, its an easy R but in europe it could get 13 or less.

It's been a while since I've seen this topic, and longer still since I've seen the movie. I'll have to give it another go so I can see what you're referring to.

It is a PG-13 to me, ok for ages 14 and up.
The R-Rating is too much, there is nothing so extreme or graphic in this movie.
Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

I don't know about you people, but damn I thought this movie was quite disturbing, it was very unsettling. ive never seen a fairy tale this dark and twisted before, and it was great so I can see why they have the R. wasn't this a tv movie though?

No it was meant to be released in theatre from the beginning. They changed their minds at the last minute.
