      Perfectly said.
I'm hit and miss with QT, this is easily his top film.
      10/10
Most of his other films get 6's, 7's & 8's at best.

I think this is his best film too, but Pulp is a close second.

I totally agree. I've always thought Jackie Brown was Tarantino's best film, principally because it's a very coherent story. Pulp Fiction, which I do love, is really more about style over substance, as well as much of what else Quentin has made, which isn't entirely bad. He makes enjoyable films, but invariably, I don't care about the characters in most of his films. But in Jackie Brown, I do care. I like Jackie and Max. I like Ordell. This is because this film is an adaptation of Rum Punch, by Elmore Leonard. Jackie Brown has the most coherent story of any of Tarantino's films, and that, combined with his style of filmmaking, makes this film his best.

"Jackie Brown," is actually one of my all time favorite movies, and definitely Quentin Tarrantino's best work. I like it better than "Pulp Fiction."

I just watched this film again twice in the past two weeks. I just saw Django last week as well. I think the only film he put a pen to that I haven't viewed yet is "True Romance."
I think JB is amazing, and I believe it to be his most 'organic' film, with more believable situations and dialogue and not overly stylized. This movie really breathes and has a great flow. All the great location shooting really boosted the feeling of realism for me.
My personal ranking of the QT films I've seen:
              Inglorious Basterds
              Jackie Brown
              Pulp Fiction
Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2
              Django Unchained
              Reservoir Dogs
              Deathproof

My personal rankings of Quentin Tarantino's films, 1 being the highest:

                1. Django Unchained
                2. Inglorious Basterds
                3. Jackie Brown
                4. Pulp Fiction
                5. Reservoir Dogs
                6. Kill Bill # 2
                7. Kill Bill # 1
I have not yet seen Deathproof, but will shortly.
As this is the Jackie Brown Thread, I must state here that this 3rd movie, after RD AND PF, QT showed a much more sense of "suspense" instead of the feeding of the "action"; the phone call Jackie makes to the cops from Cherry's office, the phone just keeps ringing, lending to the jolting thought of what will happen if her plan backfires? Why is she leaving the money in the dressing room? At the time I was watching this great film, I thought, wtf?
QT had an airtight script, no holes in the plot or plot devices whatsoever. Everything was put together in a constructive manner.
Yes, Pulp Fiction( PF) is also great, but Jackie Brown shown QT still evolving. PF main color palette was a dark tone of hues, but Jackie Brown had a wide range of light, dark, contrast, and everything matched. It looked like QT had a better understanding of the "images" of the films as with PF and Reservoir Dogs( RD).
I think QT is a great Director, and has paid his dues and deserves everything he worked so hard to get.

The usually over-the-top Quentin elements are in tight novelistic control. Elegance without flash. Even some meditative moments that aredare I say it beautiful.

yes you are not crazy man. This one maybe looks too serious and real but I love fun in Pulp Fiction more, coz its fiction. What I like is, its so unpredictable. Just like quentin know what we are thinking and he just twist our mind around.

No, youre mighty sane for thinking so. RD & PF are great as well - especially the latter - but it is here that everything comes together. The "intellectual" substance and the technique. Certainly one of the best films of the 1990s.

In my opionion yes you are, if you didn't know that this was a tarantino flick, without any of the music giveaways and watched this along side his other movies in my opinion it is his most dull flick. It doesn't match his usual style of movie making and even pulp fiction isn't his best. His best two movies are kill bill (both parts count as one movie) and reservoir dogs by a long way.

I think the thing about JB that makes it so great has more to do with Elmore Leonard than Quentin. You can see films that are written solely by him. Compare it to this flick, which is based on some very good source material. I think you have to work hard to screw up Elmore Leonard.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings.

I agree. QT did a good job with the source, but it seams everybody here praise the work of Elmore Leonard 🙂

Agreed. Most people would say its his worst film but come on. Kill Bill And deathproof ( both watchable, but not high caliber like most QT movies ) are his worst entries to date. Jackie Brown isn't as fast paced of a movie and I think a lot of people who dislike this movie must have short attention spans. Plus this has my top two actors(Sam jack and bobby d) side by side

This is by far my most all time favorite movie. I've literally seen it over 30 times and counting. You really have to see this on DVD or premium cable. Whenever it's on basic cable channels, they edit the hell out of it which doesn't do it any justice.
The soundtrack is incredible too! This was the first time I've seen Pam Grier (aside from her appearance on one of bathe Cosby Show episodes, and I love her and her character. I've always loved Samuel L Jackson and Robert DeNiro too.
Shame so many of the characters were killed or there could have possibly been a sequel.
                                      Awesome movie!
