It should be remade.
They simply didn't have the technology back in '97 to do it right; but with today's CGI, they could really make it look much more like the 50's, with more CGI-generated buildings, cars, and planes of that era.

Agreed! Everyone was so great. If there was a remake, perhaps some of the technical aspects would be better, but I can't think that they'll get all those wonderful performances, especially by the three male leads. -

ohhhh, is that why all of the cars, hair, clothes, TV's, songs, stars, and references were from the 50's ? I was wondering about that !
I was really confused when Lana Turner showed up. I thought she from the 50's, not the 90's. I also was confused why the LA freeway hadn't been built yet. -

The film has aged just fine, and does not need a remake with "modern" CGI. There is not exactly a shortage of "shiny" computer graphic reliant films with average acting skills and lack of substance. Keep CGI where it belongs, primarily comic book / super hero, and frivolous action movies.

any movie with a great story is worth watching no matter the age. this movie is definitely one of them. and any movie with a surprise ending that you've seen before yet continue to watch over and over again = great.

So did I! I was hoping it would be On Demand because it aired kind of late in the night, but it was worth it. My sister also loved it, even though she normally hates everything about movies like LA Confidential.

It's aged better than ANYTHING. Better than wine, better than cheese, I have never seen anything age as well as this film. We all should age as well. Johnny Depp hasn't aged as well as LA Confidential!
