It's fun. but the ending really gets a bit self-parodic (the moment when the bad guy's wrestled down in front of the Chief, and then he gets to hear the Miranda oath "You have the right to remain silent")
By the way, I doubt if any of this was really shot at the White House (see "filming locations")!

oh, no way it was shot in the white house. my guess is most of the sets were shot in toronto and a small crew did shots of the d.c. area. the ending is a bit lame, but overall good actors and good plot

I know for a fact that this movie was shot somewhere in Canada. The christian movie "Left Behind: World At War" is filmed in Canada and used the exact same White House location used in "Murder At 1600".

I agree. Watchable, predictable and entertaining. The final obligatory tunnel scene was a bit over the top. Snipes could have saved the day by merely stepping outside and talk to the media who were always mobbing him, but there always must be an action finish. A fun show.

I think there is an explanation to this - to protect thre presidency.
If Snipes show the story to the media while the President announce his resignation. Could he still be the president if the whole world got to know that he stepped down just to protect his son from murder charge?

You asked, "wtf is an opinian"?
It's the opinion of an unlettered person who went to a government school.

I enjoyed the movie, but thought that Alan Alda and Ronny Cox should have switched roles. As much as I like Alda, he just isn't effective as a tough Secretary of Defense, and Cox doesn't play a liberal president well.

                                SPOILERS
This was probably done specifically to keep viewers guessing. Of course the second you see Ronny Cox, you think, "Oh! He did it. He was the bad guy in Total Recall and Robocop" You would NEVER think that Hawkeye Pierce is the bad guy. Good casting. Something similar but different was done in "Shoot to Kill". All of the suspects were played by actors who all played bad guys at some point in their careers which kept people guessing.
