I can't agree more. He is way too underrated (wow, is he that old?). Awesome, awesome acting. Made me seen the movie a few times in a row, just to see him again. The scene with Bale (in his house) is just unbelievable. Just look at his face when he says: : "Not on my life?". Just WOW.
And not to mention that simply hillarious spelling. -

He doesn't look 40 at all I just seen him in the movie SYRIANA he again portrays someone totally different he is a LAWYER in this movie. He is indeed a great actor I just watched shaft a few days ago i love that guy in the movie. In the prison cell he says "what chu in fo eencome tox evasion" "you look like a F^##@in duck hoonter" "you one kentucky fried N@@**@ i got some chicken wing for chu" When he got hit in the head with the basketball i love the way he said "Muddaf#&@*"

man you are completely correct with those quotes in my opinion. The man is an acting genius, I don't think I've seen an actor as versatile as him in a long long time. Basquiat is awesome too, for whoever it was that asked that. and his performance in Angels in America, wow.
We need some kind of petition to get the man more recognised and more work, not that he hasn't been in many films - he's just better than almost any other actor and seems to excell in every role given to him. -

i watched the movie last night, and loved how Jeffrey acted..he is truly gifted and now i know's hes in Syrianna i really want to see that movie.
he did steal the show from Jackson, Shaft seemed stale compared to Peoples.

He took a nothing, cliche' part and turned it into a completely original role. Jeffrey Wright is probably the most versatile actor working today. He's about the only reason to watch Shaft, which is a pretty stupid movie. His clothes and accent were awesome.

You are absolutely on the money on this one, Jeffrey Wright walks away with every scene in this movie.case and point, his character caused major conflict with Samuel L. Jackson on the set while filming. To give it to you straight, Jeffrey Wright IS the reason the watch Shaft, and not so much Samuel L. Jackson.
And the hits just keep on coming

I heard he was brought in at the last minute to replace another actor. Does anyone know who? Also, TLDavis1230, did you mean the actor caused major conflict with Sam Jackson or his character? If you mean Wright and Jackson didn't get along, can you give us an example?

Are you joking? after seeing him in this film i felt sorry - he was awful. no offence to him because i thought he performed well in Ali but this is terrible - but then again so was everyone else - perhaps it was just the film that made him awful
