Of course that's part of the character! She's an overdramatic, non-talented Fag-hag. She has to be loud and obnoxious, otherwise it's not funny. and the best part is, she remains blind to the fact that she's over-the-top. She thinks she's talented. It's classic.
The real question is wither or not Tori was actually
acting
in the film.

I keep wondering how filmmakers and casting agents could have ignored Tori Spelling after her roles in The House of Yes and Trick. Before I saw those movies I thought she was just a joke, a talentless hack who was pushed by her bigwig father. But when I saw The House of Yes, I began to think that there was more to her than meets the eye.
When I rented Trick, me and my boyfriend (he's my husband now) found ourselves totally surprised by her performance. Funny, sweet but also neurotic, self-absorbed and a little tragic, Tori gives an exceptional performance in this movie. I even remember that she was singled out by the now-defunct movie magazine Premiere as one of the most surprising performances of the year. I really thought that Hollywood would come calling, but that unfortunately didn't happen. Too bad. -

She was SUPPOSED to be annoying - and this is ther first time I
saw what a great actress she really is.. She has the character down pat
and gives a truly glowing performance. This is a real love story and
the rest of the cast is splendid Great film' -

She was funny when they were at the restaurant. Everyone must admit there is someone they know that is like thatkeeps on talking and never gives anyone else a break.
I think that why i liked this movie so much because i actually know people who are just like in this movie. -

My friends and I were watching and at the end we all blurted, "Damn, she can really act." Of course the role was totally over the top.but I now think that she's actually a pretty good (comedic) character actor and now am surprised she's not used in more roles in this capacity.

She was really hilarious - The 'cheese' on fries rant is so totally camp - I play it over and over on the DVD for a good laugh.

I agree. I loved her. Especially the diner scene. I thought she was great. Yeah, she's annoying but she's supposed to be & still somehow came across as endearing. I actually know people like that so I think she nailed it, if you ask me.
