I remember one of the top of my head and I only saw this in the pictures when it came out.
Hellboy and the surly old guy that works for the same agency who are always at eachothers throats through the whole film suddenly bonding over the right way to light a cigar. -

I'm always amused by people who complain that they "wasted two hours of their lives" watching a film. What exactly would you have done with those precious two hours? Written a sonnet? Cured cancer? Brought peace to the Middle East? Done the dishes and taken a dump? Watched something else?

How about the most tired and overused cliche: the young sidekick. Does every movie that comes out these days require a young sidekick so the 12 year olds have something to relate to? Even when I was 12 I thought young sidekicks were lame.

He kept tagging along and shouting "Wait", reminding me of an overzealous and annoying teenager. Other than having to endure that wannabe sidekick, I liked the film.

not seen the film for a while but from the top of my head the plot was roughly,
Rasputin is commisiond to work for hitler in his ocult projects department
Based on ancient scrolls(or something) rasputin's aim is to open a portal(in scotland) and awaken the seven mythical gods of chaos, but is stoped before compleating his task
A young british agent warns that even though the portal was only briefly open something may have come through, something did a strange red little creature with horns and oversized arm that looks as though its made from stone,
the british agent adopts the little creature as his son, who has with affection been named HellBoy.(stop me before i trip all over these cliches)
about fifty years later little hell boy still with all the tenasity and sprint of a man in his twentys is an agent of The BPRD along with his adoptive farther and friend Abe sapien they cover up (along with other agents) any thing of magicle or supernatural origin, and arive at the scene in a garbige truck..

Rasputin (like his real live counterpart) is not that easily killed an has other ideas
and some people want to moan about a few moments of cliche wich havent actually been mentiond or justified beyond just saying there where some? -

I get the impression that most of the people on this thread complaining about "clichs" have no bloody idea what the word actually means.
"Clich" is where the same idea has been used over and over again, to the point where it's lost any emotional or dramatic resonance. An unsurprising turn of the plot isn't a clich; it's just uninventive.
If you're going to use a concept to criticise a movie, you really should find out what that concept actually means, don't you think?

exactly! Like the cigar thing. So 80ies and that's a good thing, considering today's action films usually can't compare in the slightest to 80ies action films! This film was original, anyone who's talking about clich be better able to name some so far nobody in this thread has been able to
