After watching this last night for the first time in a while, this movie does indeed stil hold up as an all-time classic. Also, think about the people who were in this. Ferrell, Vaughn, Jeremy Piven, Ellen Pompeo, Perrey ReevesAll blew up after his movie. I only wish that some of the deleted scenes or made for TV scenes were included just to fresh out the story more.
By made for TV, I mean scenes that seem to be added in on cable/edited viewings to make up for time cut from the stuff networks won't show. -

Disagree. Watching it right now on a movie channel and it's as funny as ever, if not moreso in light of recent comic fodder around in theatres. Definitely my favorite Phillips movie, and one of my favorite comedies of all time.

It is cliche, the story is overly familiar and some of the characters are stock. And except for Will Ferrell(who I'm pretty sure imporvised his lines), they underutilized a very talented and quality cast.

just watched it for the first time and i have to agree with OP, ferrell is the only funny person in this.
how can this movie have the same imdb-rating as the masterpiece that is "anchorman"? don't get me wrong, i didn't hate it, but it's not better than 5/10 or 6/10 for me. -

I think it is still very good, but whenever I watch it now I usually turn it off after Blue's funeral. The movie is hilarious up until that point. I think Jeremy Piven was miscast in this, and the whole plot involving the fraternity being subjected to tests is labored.

I saw it for the first time about 3 or 4 months ago and kind of felt lukewarm about it. Maybe because everyone had been hyping it for so many years for me. But I've watched it 2 or 3 times since then and actually have enjoyed it more each time. Ferrell is a little over the top (well, I guess not compared to some of his later films), but has some of the funniest lines in the movie. It's not as good as The Hangover in my opinion, but it has definitely grown on me. I agree, however, that the whole test thing drags at the end. It's kind of like the parade scene in Animal House (which is my all time favorite in this genre).

Wow really people? I watched this yesterday with my buddies and as usual, we were laughing our asses off. Vaughn, Wilson, Ferrell, and even Piven all had classic lines. How could you not laugh at the van-abduction scene?

The whole Luke Wilson romantic angle is so forced and has very poor development.
I agree on that one, I didn't see why that chick (with some other guys kid no less) was so attractive to him. I thought the first chick he woke up with at the party was a lot hotter, even his "gang bang" girlfriend was a more interesting character. That said I laughed a lot during this movie, it was pretty funny. While not being exactly the paragon of cinema, Todd Phillip's crude movies are usually quite enjoyable. -

Maybe it seems a little forced, but it's not a romantic comedy, that relationship is a sub plot. It's more a comedy about some thirty something's trying to recapture the joys of their not so distant past. That's what's great about it,all these college or high school movies focus on how great it is to be a teen or in your early twenties, but when you hit a set age the fun should stop and everything is supposed to get serious. These guys weren't ready to do that yet, especially Frank. The relationship with Wilson's character was a bit light, sure, generic bad boyfriend competition and all,but it's secondary to the comedy and just there to give his character a happy ending.Hell, even Andy Dick is funny-ish in it,and a movie that can make that guy make me laugh is doing well.

Yea if you are you're friends are still quoting a movie over 7 years later then its def time for you guys to start trying to get laid. Frankly the reason yall aren't getting laid is for in part quoting random movies to girls.

When this movie came out I was in college. My friends and I watched thisor I'll say, had it playing in the background everyday while we chilled out and played spades. We knew all the words and it remained funny as hell. I just watched this the other day with my boyfriend and I laughed just as hard.
