Way better than Children of Men

Now now, there's no need to go there. I liked both films. I like both actors. You can't make a comparison beteen Vin Diesel and Clive Owen. They're two different types of actors who approach their craft in totally different ways, and appeal to totally different audiences. "Children of Men" was grittier, uglier, more cerebral, depressing, and deep about the psycho-social consequences of a post-apocalyptic world. It was intended for a main stream movie audience. What I didn't like about it is that it didn't really flesh out the characterization of any other character beside Clive Owen. "Children of Men" didn't bother to even flesh out the character of the Neo-Eve (my name for her) who would be continuing the human species. It didn't highlight anything significantly special about her that would justify her being the future mother of humankind, other than she was the only female breeder left on the planet. It didn't even give an explanation of why she was able to breed when no other woman was. What I really liked about "Babylon AD" is that, because of the action, it didn't drag, or get boring. Even though it was crafted for a primarily male Sci-Fi audience, it gave us not one, but two fully developed female characters, in addition to the male hero. Although, they ultimately died, the film still ended on a hopeful high note with Toorup walking away with the "twins". Toorup started with two very different looking women and ends with two very different looking little women. It was cyclical. I didn't feel that way about "Children of Men". It wasn't as optimistic. Although, we think Neo-Eve and baby Cain made it to the ship. They never showed it. We're left wondering, and due to the dreary mood of the rest of the film, not very hopeful.

The OP is either a troll or a moron who thinks Transformers 2 is the greatest film ever made. Children of Men is a masterpiece compared to this steaming pile of excrement and this is coming from someone who is a fan of Mathieu Kassovitz's other work (well except Gothika facepalm).

"Something weird" Wow very descriptive. The film is supposed to give you an uneasy feeling. That's the point of this film and the effect the director was going for. With Babylon you didn't give two $hits about the characters and couldn't see yourself relating to them on any level.
If you want happy-go-lucky films then watch Wall-E.

Wall of text? I typed five sentences in total and proper grammar was used. I realize it's more than what you're used to reading so it's all good.

I was actually replying to Mermaidbronze but if you feel the need to feel intellectually superior to others, join Mermaid and go for it too!

If you were directing your response at him you should have said "@ Mermaid" or something along those lines. There are dozens of responses to the OP and other posters - we aren't psychic. If you had any intellect you'd know to do that.

First of all, beep! It takes a lot just to register and be able to post on imdb. Second of all, you're an idiot. The only reason I registered was to tell you you're an idiot. Babylon AD, though probably not as bad as they say, still sucks more golfballs through a hose than a bagless upright on an infomercial. Now, I like me some Vin Diesel in a flick every now and again. None of that Pacifier beep mind you. But this movie is just Minority Report + Children of Men + the Transporter = Futuristic Gibber(s+hit) If you really thought this was better than Children of Men, than you should probably stop being. I doubt it's worth it.

I saw this on cable and am really glad I only wasted time on it. While there were some interesting visuals, the actions scenes were very poorly edited, the story was far from original, the dialog was stilted, and there were so many times I thought "WTF?" that the only way I could suffer through the whole disaster was to accept that this was just a mess and see if it could get worse. "Children of Men" was a good film, this was an over-budgeted TV movie, not in the same league.

There is NO comparisonhowever, this is one of Vin Diesel's better movies. Children of Men was a very intelligent movie and I usually am not a sci-fi nut. It was appealing to more audiences than the typical far-out sci-fi flicks arejust MHO.

Actors are not the only principle reason to enjoy any flick but more a less a staple to the over all feel. Children of Men is a good movie because it made me feel something other than the sound of the bass from a speaker every time Vin Diesel blew something up. My conclusion: COM= Win sltcs6010= FAIL
