I love how Jack has a few of these backhanded lines directed at Miles.
    Such as
"You write another novel. One that can sell." when they are in the bar talking about moving up to Santa Barbara.
    and
"Can I call you back? Miles and I are in the middle of something No no big deal. He's just having one of his freakouts" to his wife on the phone when Miles is standing two feet away

Not really a line but I laughed out loud at the whole "staging a car accident scene" towards the end.

The "Frass Canyon" winery, and all the details shown that reinforce Mile's contempt for it as an inferior touristy place:

          • The numerous large tour busses disgorging loads of what are assumed to be rubes.
          • The filling of a tanker trunk with wine with a large diameter hose, as if it were some industrial product.
          • The throng of a crowd in the main building and all the noise and hubbub it produces.
          • The kitschy cliche stuff: Guitarist playing and the overt merchandising.
          • The name "Frass", which is insect excreta.
          • The way Jack contrasts Miles perceptions of it and doesn't notice the relative crassness of it all, and also how his stock reply every time Miles critiques a wine: "Tastes pretty good to me".

Do you have any other shoes ? He says no, but if you notice, he has 2 different pairs in the movie..

The second pair of shoes are accounted for in the deleted scenes on the dvd.
To me the funniest part is when he draws that hard line against Merlot. I know it's extremely well known but I can't help loving it.

No mention of Jack's line about what the waitress' s husband found when he got home from work? That to me is on wood the funniest lines in the whole movie. That and the following scene with him chasing them down the street while naked.

When Jack explains to Miles explains hes just been chased by ostriches. Miles starts to laugh, then
                  Paul Giamatti
, or so it seems, cant
                  stop
laughing. The moment feels very real and very funny.

I used to live in that neighborhood - there truly IS an ostrich farm on that road called OstrichLand USA! So yeah, it's real and it's hilarious!

When Miles runs away from Jack with that bottle of wine. THe expression on Paul Giamatti's face is priceless.
Just rewatched this movie last night after almost 10 years and loved it more the second time around.
I think it has to do with age.

Saabs were tough too- they say one can never figure out why Saabs were so expensive until there was an accident.

Lots of funny lines in the movie but my favorite was when Jack came over to Miles after talking to the waitress and he told him his plans with her.
Miles says beep Can't we just go back to the hotel and hang out. Play 9 holes in the morning and then leave."
He's beside himself that Jack is suddenly over Stephanie and is looking to get laid by anyone.

                              Brilliant movie.

I like the part where Miles goes into great detail, teaching Jack the components of appreciating and assessing a wine (color, clarity, viscosity, aeration, bouquet, and finally the tasting), only to register his great disappointment by asking, "Are you chewing gum?!"

One part that I think is pretty funny is near the beginning. Miles is running late and is on the phone with Jack. Miles says, "I'm out the door, right now!!" but then he takes his sweet time ordering a croissant and newspaper, rather than continuing to rush.

Someone's mentioned this already, but my favorite part is when Miles has to retrieve Jack's wallet from the waitress' house while the she and her husband are having sex. He obtains it, but not without being seen. He is chased away by the husband, who's still compltely naked (maybe an
