Sorry, Spielberg. I generally like your stuff but this movie was way off the mark.
I've seen the orignal with Gene Barry and even after all these decades it's still superior to this dreck.
While I appreciate the homage to the illustrations of some of the original pulp copies of War of the Worlds, in general this movie just sucked.
I hated the characters, the plot, even the special effects.
It was just awful. Not Gigli awful but awful just the same.
And pointless.
I wanted to slap the son. I wanted to slap the Dad. The stupidity. The coincidences.
What a waste of time, money and celluloid. (Yeah, I know they don't use celluloid any more but you get the point.)
