I thought WEEKS was better than DAYS - first time I saw it . I do think the sequel is let down by the fact that the plot runs out after the reinfection happens . At least with DAYS the plot still develops in the final third even though it lacks internal logic

Because after the father flees the house, this movie gets TERRIBLY predictable. I was during the whole movie like:

          • Oh, kids. Now we know who will screw it all.
          • "remember that nobody is allowed to cross the river".
          • Oh they will dumbly cross the river and somehow get everybody else infected, while surviving themselves because, ya' know, they are kids.
          • "but we want to see momy!"
          • Geez now that idiot will go there and get himself bitten, release her or something.
          • "I love you"
          • Here it comes.
            And so, and so on.

I have always liked this more than 28 Days. I am real surprised it hasn't ended up on more top ten lists or last decace.

I just watched both of them today. I was bored with 28 Days. I felt like the whole movie was stupid.
I was at least interested in watching 28 weeks later. It had a good storyline.

Weeks is better. Sequels are usually better than the original. same with technology, video games etc. newest ipad and newest Super Mario game are far better than original. people think its immature to like Sequels so they immediately hate them.

Bad comparison, in no way should you ever compare improving technology to sequels (ask Lucas about all his added BS, Han shot first!).
Besides the hate people had for sequels is eclipsed by their hate for remakes.

not all sequels are better but usually they are. some remakes are okay. i like the Star Wars special editions way more than originals but agree Han shot first

Days although gripping throughout, has too many silliness scenes, starting with the first!! see my review for some of the others.

I saw both in theaters. 28 days was great. 28 weeks was awesome. The conflict in Renners character as a sniper, just given orders to kill innocents after the infection broke out was grueling. I loved 28 weeks and have seen it dozens of times. What I like about 28 days is how threatening the infected were.

Agreed, Days was an 8 and Weeks a 9.
Great start to Days, but then it lurches into the guy-wakes-up-in-a-hospital-confused scene, straight from Day of the Triffids, and I always held that against it.
Yes, it got better from there, but I liked that they spent more money on Weeks and it showed. Bigger story.

Weeks has a terrible script and Zero menace. After the opening scene it feels like a TV Movie.

I think both films are equally excellent. I totally dig the small intimate scale of the original while the second one impresses with its take-no-prisoners brutal approach to the harsh subject matter.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
