Michael Pena is brilliant

I liked that they even made that a disadvantage to him once, in that he knocked out that huge guy and then needed to drag him out of the building.
The story had all these little details that were great, and Pena and the other actors made the most of every opportunity.

The story he retells at the end was the best scene from the entire movie. I laughed so hard how everyone was synced to his way of talking.
Lincoln Lee: I lost a partner.
Peter Bishop: I lost a universe! -

Damn straight, that scene was genius, with those different characters lip synching to his narration. The guy was superb in this, he even lifted the mediocre jokes above average - "back it up, yeah just back it up, back it up now"

I too enjoyed Pena in this, it was nice to see him being a little silly. I also really got a kick out of the lip syncing bits. For those of you who enjoyed the lip synced story telling you should check out a show called "Drunk History". It's pretty amusing, especially if you catch it in the right frame of mind.

I thought the best thing about him was his facial expressions after saying all of those lines mentioned in this topic. He just had a stupid look to his face and it was hilarious.
But my favorite line of his was
Luis: I'm in the syssstem?
TI (Points at him): You're the in the system.
Luis: the system. -

I didn't care for him in Shooter or End of Watch but those were both more because of his character, rather than him. He was hilarious in this.
I watched this on TV immediately after Avengers 2 (which I'd already seen), and enjoyed it immensely more. Why? Because it's goofy and it knows it. Avengers, and most other Marvel movies take themselves too seriously, but then awkwardly cram in lame, unfunny one-liners at literally a rate of at least 2 per minute. -

That, and the fact that Luis really,
really
wants to be a stereotypical Latino "gangsta". But then he makes fantastic waffles, goes to wine tastings, art exhibits and comes up with the idea of playing a character who has the habit of whistling, during the heist.
Luis is just so
cool
.
It was so facepalm-worthy when El Mayimbe put the character down for being a stereotype Latino gangsta. Talk about not understanding a character.
Quidquid Latinae dictum sit, altum viditur.
