Smallville was a 10 season hit Tv Show, Arrow's A Big hit,Gotham's a Big Hit and The Flash is a Huge hit and considered the best TV show about a superheroDC's also got 2 more Superhero TV shows coming out
Marvel Studios Agents of Shield was brutally awful the first season,apparently its gotten better, Agent Carter wasn't very good, and Daredevil was true great

Marvel's big weakness is villains.
They keep killing off every villain they could do anything with, and the villains themselves have been largely unimpressive with the singular exception of Loki. As awesome as "Winter Soldier"'s two main villains were, one is dead and one is no longer a villain.
Loki is the only villain who has been allowed to have a legitimate and complex character arc, spanning multiple films.
That is where Marvel is coming up short.

"Marvel villains have mostly been superb and service each story perfectly." - you mean being a one-dimensional imbeciles with no personality means to be a superb villain that service to the story? All MCU villains were garbage and a disgrace to their superior comic book counterparts.
