Revived Cop - Why?

Every single time I show this movie to someone they question this part. I happen to love this scene.
A. I do believe the cop is brain damaged, not a zombie. The reason he acts so defensively is probably due to the fact that the last thing that happened to him was a gunshot to the head. It's pure instinct. Just like the when the perp pulls the scissors from out of his and tries to fight back (which is one of my favorite parts form the movie, btw).
B. I believe the reason he beat specifically her stomach is because the that is the central part of the movie, the thing being protected for the past hour of terror. I think it was also a trigger for Sarah to finally begin the labor process which directly followed.
C. We also get to see just how desperate for and protective of this baby la femme truly is. We already know that she wants know harm done to the baby. It is shown when Sarah tries to harm the unborn child prior to this and la femmereacts by wacking her across the face with the toaster. This time we see the woman relentlessly attacking the cop in an attempt to protect the the host of her baby.
D. Lastly, I believe it was for pure shock value. Just when you thought it was over and Sarah has the upper hand, the lights turn on to reveal the braindead cop. In a movie where the heroine already suffered so much, the director lets us know that we still don't get a break yet.
I swear, Inside is among the greatest movies of this decade.

The only "brain damage" in this thread is the ones who actually thought it was realistic or even possible for that cop to be alive at all. I just watched the movie (heard great things about it) and my god what a waste of my time.
Other than great special effects this movie is full of gigantic plot holes and very unrealistic events. Yes realism is possible in a horror flick. The more fleshed out charactes the more we cary, and the greater the horror really is.
Here's a few things that ruined the movie for me:
*Cop not calling for backup after hearing the gun shots
*Getting your nerves in your face torched makes you to pass out of chock (trust me on this one)
*The fat cop acting all stupid
*And finally the best part the so called cop who acted like a "zombie" that was so beep over the top and unrealistic it really shattered everything I had left for the movie.
My review 4.5 out of 10, nothign special at all except for great effects.

I respect your opinion on this movie, although I would love to know how you actually think this is a great movie but that's besides the point. How on earth can you even belive the cop is still alive and still functional? I realise this is a movie (fiction) but this is too much.

I guess the simplest way for me to put it is that I realize that I don't really sit and pick movies apart like many people do. In the end, I'm able to realizing what I'm watch is a movie. You could pick apart any movie. I loved it, one of my favorite movies now. You didn't. That's probably as deep as it goes.

Yes that's true I guess, but honestly it's not like over-analyzed this one. It's just that I presume if there's a police officer I expect the actor to you know act like a police?
Otherwise you're breaking the suspension and the belief of terror. It doesn't matter if the story is unrealistic, if you can't have the main characters act their roles/professions the movie will start loose it's tension, that's my opinion.

I think in spite of the lack of realism, the acting of the protagonist was superb enough to put this aside (for me anyway). We can find horror films with more realistic screenplays but I think it's the performance that ultimately sells it in the end.
I'm also wondering why realistic behavior is important to you in horror films, since most of them would totally fail in this regard. Most of the great horror writers would be considered very poor writers when we start questioning the behavior of the characters in such situations (though many have a bit more leeway considering that they're often dealing with supernatural elements). I really think far more important is directing, atmosphere, acting that makes a horror film truly horrific. -

Wait so its not possible to be alive after getting shot in the head? Tell that to the woman from Arizona that got shot in the head and is..omg ALIVE..She was even talking at the scene too. So to say its not possible to be alive is ridiculous.

I just finished watching the movie and I thought that it wasn't the police officer but rather the kid who got the scissors to the head. After she did that to him, he removed it and fell to the ground. I don't think he was dead but rather just brain damaged from it which would explain why he acted the way he did after turning the lights on. He most likely assumed she was the the other woman so he instinctively attacked her. Personally, I didn't really enjoy the scene as I thought it was just too far out in terms of realism but I understand why it was there.

Finally, someone who understood what happened. IT WASN'T THE COP, IT WAS THE KID!!!!!! Disoriented after scissors to the head, the last thing on his mind before getting stabbed was turning the electricity on. This is what's on his mind when he comes to. I think turning the lights on gives him a zap of some kind and gets the panda eyes as a result.
NO ZOMBIES.
She's the one that is confused, calling him "officer" once or twice.

Lmao what? Dude watch the scene again, it's the cop. How did you confuse his face, his clothes, his haircut, the fact that he has a police baton on his belt AND the fact that his brain injury isn't centered and isn't a hole like a scissor would do?

WOW. good stuff. (D) was my favorite of your explanations and its personally exactly how i felt at the time. we thought at the moment Sarah was going to persevere. boy were we wrong.
They mostly come out at night; mostly. -

Was it the cop or the perp?
I thought it was the perp. After he is impaled, they linger on his face, leading me to believe he would come back.
And it is a plotline to give the villian the upper hand (and maybe they had some blood left over). -

WOW! The cop handcuffed the perp and also gave him a belt with a slot to hold a
nightstick
?
Right
Anyone who believes that must have
A. Only viewed this film
once
and in the chaos of all the unrelenting violent imagery, became horribly confused.
B. Seen the film multiple times but can't grasp what actually happened in that scene because they are either visually impaired or are suffering from a little brain damage themselves.

He attacked Sarah because, in his state of mind, he thought she was La Femme.
As for why it happenedit was probably a deus ex machina to get the film to end with La Femme performing the caesarian section on Sarah.
