Gracious sakes, Murph! What had you been eating? An onion and mustard ice cream cone?

Nah, I just had some broccoli and beans for dinner and washed them down with some crabcakes.

I would have given a pebble in the shoe higher than a 1, myself. Maybe I'm thinking of a bigger and more jagged pebble than he is.

I'd've gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids.

Yes, the smoothness/jaggedness of the pebble would definitely make a difference. I'm not sure Sheldon put enough thought into this. I guess he's gettin' lazy on us ever since Amy turned him into a flamenco-dancing sex beast.

I love Altoids! They are indeed super strong and take some getting used to, but if you love peppermint and want fresh breath, not much does the job better than an Altoid.

Mr. Lemons likes Altoids, too. Based on all of the Altoid-eating success stories in this thread, I'm starting to wonder if I need to be assessed for WNS.

Put me down as another anomaly. Altoids and cinnamon red-hots don't bother me a bit, yet any sort of contact between my mouth and a jalapeno is about like a root canal with no Novocaine or even my worst arthritis attack (while my wife can eat cayenne peppers straight and not even need a sip of her drink). On the topic of Novocaine, I'd also put the needle they stick in your gums to deliver it about two steps higher than a normal tooth drilling for a moderate cavity.

Before we put you down as another anomaly, let's be sure. What do you think of
                  this
                  cinnamon red-hot?

I'm happy that dentists have taken to numbing the area before giving a shot - back in the day, there was no numbing, just a needle jabbed in your mouth.

I really didn't get the thing about Altoids. I've never had a problem with them. I also think a pebble in your shoe rates at least a 4.

Clearly, pain is in the nervous system of the beholder.

I'm from New Orleans, so any food-related burny feeling is pleasure to me.

I'd hate to see him clip his fingernails. He probably wails like a banshee.

They're not painful they're delicious, but you have to love peppermint.
