How does one end magic though? I see what you are saying, but it seems to me there are bigger problems going on. Though most bad guys are using magic, I wouldn't say the fight is against magic itself.

I have no doubt there will be an epic battle with the WWs and the Night King will get killed, somehow. Whether he's really the big bad is another story, but they're not going to waste the opportunity for great television they haven't so far, anyway, when they killed off Joffrey, Ramsay, Tywin, Roose, and on and on.

Maybe. I just find it strange that Sam has to go to the Citadel to find out how to defeat the WWs when the people who created them and should have known, the CoF, were right there with Bran & company.
