Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Law & Order: UK

I've only seen a few episodes of Law & Order: UK, but one difference I've noticed is that there's very little detailed legal argument (e.g. citing specific precedents and cases), whereas this appears in almost every episode of the original US series.
Is this because of some genuine difference in legal practice between the UK and US, or is it just because the UK writers don't have the budget to hire legal experts to spice up the screenplay?

The show is explicitly intended to be a "carbon copy" of the US original. Every episode is based on a specific corresponding episode of the American series.
