Someone else mentioned in a different thread that the car behind Michelle's at the gas station has big headlights like a truck and is probably Howard's truck. There is a very brief shot at the gas station where one can see this vehicle's side mirror and it is exactly the same as Howard's (that you see in one of the scenes near the end). It is a very unusual side mirror with a vertical support bar. So much for any illusions that Howard was just a benevolent savior vs a loony toon abductor who planned and orchestrated the kidnapping!

Well yeah, we found that out when we discovered he had kidnapped that girl years earlier.
Didn't we know this all along after we were shown that part?
It was clear he had an obsession over getting his daughter back - so he kidnapped girls who looked like her. -

It was clear. . .
Apparently it was clear to some of us, but not others.
There is a significant subgroup on here (some trolls, but some seemingly legit) who think that Howard is an innocent wronged party and Michelle in an ungrateful,
murderous
monster.
I do think that this is turning out to be a great way to screen guys on a first date.
So have you seen
10 Cloverfield Lane
?
Yeah.
What did you think of Howard?
Well, I felt bad for the guy. He tries to save this woman and she totally betrays him. I feel like in his place I would have done everything basically the same.
Excuses self to women's bathroom, flees through window -

And yet that stopped mattering and the movie fell off a cliff into aliens and splosions!!
A completely different movie broke out and the entire side story of whoever the girl was stopped mattering at all. -

The lights of the truck coming in the gas station reminded me of the scene in Close Encounters of the alien 'truck lights' that come up behind Richard Dreyfus truck ..a foreshadowing to it being aliens at the end?
