Why are people mad about the liquor bottle blowing up the space ship?

It's not 'nit-picking' when it's something that makes you think straight away "That would never work like that!!" It's poor script writing. A whisky bottle with a fuse in it would never ever explode with such violent ferocity that it can bring down a space ship

Molotov cocktails do explode, they did massive damage to tanks in ww2 and beyond.
The explosion was not caused by the bottle, but rather by the substance inside the spaceship that exploded once coming into contact with the heat/fire that the molotov had.
This scene was explained multiple times I am still amazed that people dont understand it. -

But Molotov cocktails in WWII were made with gasolinenot malt whisky. It simply is not THAT flammable. If you fill a bottle with whisky, add a lit fuse and throw it..the resulting 'fire' would be a very low flame..reminiscent of the sort of flame you get on a Christmas pudding when it's doused in brandy. Yes it burns but not to the violent degree shown in the film. I think it's poor scripting to suggest that the inside of the space ship/creature just happens to be highly volatile and a half arsed 'explosion' from a whisky Molotov ids enough to bring it down.

Are you retarded? That "spaceship" was an Alien, and that hole was the aliens beep mouth!!!! Its like if someone were to throw a molotov the size of a childs tooth in to Shaquille O'Neal mouth and from that he'd explode LOL, it made no sense at all. Also, Molotovs dont explode, idiot.

Molotovs do explode on impact the explosion is in a form of a heat-wave.
The alien spacecraft had a weakness where if you are able to penetrate its underbelly with a small explosive or a molotov as in this case it would cause catastrophic damage.
All modern technology has a so-called "soft spot" the underbelly of the beast as the metaphor goes.
If you cant understand how that scene played out then you are the idiot, millions of people rated this movie as a "must see" and it made millions in the box office to prove it was an astounding success. -

Millions of people also though the latest Transformers was a "must see" film; even paid hundreds of millions to see it.
Just tells you what percentage and type of populus you belong to
Others may like what you hate - deal with it. -

Maybe the reason of this explosion was the green smoke that burn the animals and the skin of the woman. I agree it was stupid but it's a sci-fi movie and they already saw you that this creature can spray a toxic gas, maybe they thought this was enough for the audience to understand that this creature/spaceship was flammable.

But Molotov cocktails are filled with gasoline or some other fuel. Not whisky! (whisky is mostly water, and water isn't really all that flammable
)
You can read about them here (rather than basing all your knowledge on what you've seen in movies!)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molotov_cocktail
If you had bothered to read my post you would have seen that I said "booze" (which was what she was using) would not explode. It would barely even catch fire unless heated.
Anyway, FWIW I thought the movie was great. I was merely responding to the OP who was asking what was wrong with that particular scene. In my opinion it was just about the only dumb thing about an otherwise excellent movie.
My God, it's full of stars! -

"Molotov cocktails do explode, they did massive damage to tanks in ww2 and beyond. "
LOL
Yes, because they are filled with gasoline, you extreme super-genius.
"This scene was explained multiple times I am still amazed that people dont understand it."
double-lol!
Why is it that those who are the most dense, are also the ones who are so "amazed" that others cannot grasp the concepts which are so easily understood by them?
I think the term "So dumb, that they don't realize they are dumb" applies pretty damn often. -

look up a flaming b52. a lit paper half dipped in that proof will keep a constant fire going. Throw that sucker into the belly of the beast that's been spewing highly combustible green fart gas and then you get an explosion. Pay attention and try to keep up next time will ya?

@mrchanmanx
Right!!!!
Everyone is so stupid! Obviously the bottle came into contact with the mechanics of the UFO and that's what caused it to blow up. It's really that simple to understand. It baffles me that people struggle to comprehend something sooooooo simple. -

You're comparing the durability of a WW2 tank to an extraterrestrial ship that needs to be durable enough for interstellar travel.
