I just saw this on Cinemax and kind of giggle at seeing so many people call the first one "a legend" or a classic. The first movie was B-movie schlock and it enjoyed and reveled in it. The second one was more of the same. I kind of preferred the second one just because Zombie had a major role in it and his scheming with the children who killed the monster as adults gave the film a secondary plot that seemed interesting.
All this is a meandering way of being surprised so many people thought Tamara was so much better. They're pretty equal, IMO. However, the character (from what I remember as it's been a year or two since I saw the first one and I haven't thought about it in about as long) was much better written in the second movie. She annoyed me to no end in the first film and here she had the best, if not very clever, line of the movie when she comes back with the shotgun and yells "beep YOU" to the whole monster coming back at the end scare.
For that reason, I'll vote for the latter. The performances were equal, but despite no major chase scene, the sequel was much more clever in its writing, in my opinion. -

Honestly, I wish it had been Danielle Harris from the start. Tamara Feldman was alright, but I didn't particularly want the sequel featuring her character. She didn't do much for me.
Heck, you didn't see Harris go through what Feldman did, and I felt more sympathy for Harris recalling it than actually seeing Feldman go through it. -

They are even in terms of acting ability. The Hatchet movies are intentionally cheesy and wonderfully tongue-in-cheek so it doesn't matter how good they are at acting. The movies are fairly even as well. I liked the original a bit better but the second one was really good too.
Personally, I love Danielle Harris (I'm a Halloween fanboy), and she is so damn cute. So I didn't mind when I heard she was going to be in this.
My only gripe is I hate when franchises recast roles. I just wish they kept Feldman for easier continuity between the films. Not a big deal though. I love Harris. -

Very simple question, Tamara Feldman

Eh, it's just like with the debate about which movie you prefer; I have no strong opinions, because I enjoyed the heck out of this triology no matter who played Marybeth. I think both Tamara and Danielle did well.
Actress or acting-abilities were not what got me interested in
Hatchet
in the first place. It was blood, guts, gore, intestines, decapitations, disembowelment, splattered brains, amputated limbs, dangling eyeballs, ripped skin, pulverized bodies, crushed skulls, you get the drill
