This one just felt like a decent, generic slasher movie to me.. first one seemed a lot better than that. This one was fun to watch.. but while I was watching it, just made me want to see the first one even more. Can't say it's nostalgia either, because I watched them back to back and still preferred the first.

Liked the first one better, I'm all for suspending belief when it comes to horror flicks; But just escaping a ghost serial killer after seeing many people gruesomely murdered, in what world is a girl's first reaction, "I need to go back to recover dead bodies and get revenge". WTF.

Well i prefer Hatchet II because it shows the whole story, how mr Crowley was born etc and the splatter scenes were way better the first one was kinda boring.. it was like watching Girls Gone Wild videos at some points

It had better gore but thats it. I watched them back to back and Hatchet 1 is way more enjoyable. I couldnt care less about the cast of Hatchet 2 they were all unlikeable and it wasn't anywhere near as funny.

I'm a big fan of Hatchet 1 and "blind bought" the Blu Ray at the end of June on Amazon
I wasn't severely dissapointed, but IMO this was NOT as good as the first film.
My IMDB ratings:
Hatchet: 8/10
Hatchet 2: 6/10

Who knows (or cares) if this is better than the first one. I remember nothing about the original (my records indicate I gave it one out of four stars) and this one will probably be just as memorable. They all blend into one long dreary splatter-a-thon that probably would have excited me when I was 12.

I dunno. I think the first Hatchet was better overall. Still, Hatchet 2 was stronger in areas that were weak in the first but the reverse is true too. The first had better pacing, was a little less predictable, and more fun characters. Then again, Hatchet 2 had the more epic story, which was unfortunately rushed and padded.

Count me in as liking the first one better. I also think that part of it was that I liked Tamara in the role better than Danielle Harris. The first one I thought that the cast meshed together better than this one.
Hatchet 1 - 7.5/10
Hatchet 2 - 5.5/10 -

I actually enjoyed this one more. Tony Todd's telling of the back story was super creepy, and I was glad to see he had a much larger role in this one. The first one did have way too much of a 'Girls Gone Wild' vibe.

Hatchet one felt like a real throwback and part 2 felt like a campy B movie with that intention instead of how one just felt old. Part 2 pretended to be old with more gore. I feel Frozen however looked better than both Hatchets.as far as quality.

The first movie was a lot of fun. This one was too cheap for my taste. I prefer the first one.
