- Dead Man's Chest 8/10
- Curse of the Black Pearl 8/10
- At World's End 7/10
- On Stranger Tides 2/10 (So bad that I refuse to even acknowledge it as part of the POTC franchise, instead let's just pretend it was a very bad dream that we all collectively saw and now its over)

- Black Pearl, because it was so new and so surprisingly good. I mean, what was the idea here - Disney making a movie based on one of their rides? And pirate movies had been doing badly for decades. (See, for example, Cutthroat Island.) But a perfect role for Depp and a nice little side story with Knightley and Bloom.
- Dead Man's Chest - a good expansion that expanded the Pirates theme without becoming bloated. Bill Nighy as Davy Jones is great.
- Stranger Tides - the film missed Knightley and Bloom. Also, it was noticeably done on a much smaller budget than the previous two. Most of the climactic scenes set in Florida were obviously done on a sound stage. But the additions of Cruz and McShane are great. The plot is a bit of a mess, but the dialogue is filled with first-class zingers.
- World's End. Series became a bit too bloated. Spent way too much time with Jack in the land of the dead. Still had some good moments, but it's the classic problem of a series that's gotten too large and wants to keep all the characters from previous films while introducing new characters.
