Hill St Blues they only one thats similar seasonal show.
from the e80s, was a trail blazer trying to sensitively + realistically depict street cop life.
I lived in Japan for a while and it was on repeat there, Great.

Hill Street Blues is a good call. As with Southland, it made you empathise with and invest in the characters, rather than just follow the story.

Southland, The Shield and Sons of Anarchy had the same production team, so a lot of the same actors appeared on all three. Another good show was The wire

HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET, one of the best television shows ever (imo). BOOMTOWN was close but short-lived and not quite as gritty.
DETROIT 187 was pretty good too.
'What does it matter what you say about people?'
Touch of Evil (Orson Welles, 1958).

Third watch. Brilliant series very similar to Southland. Made by the same people, shot in New York, involving police fire and paramedics.

Yeah, but it is impossible to find Third Watch anywhere. I want to see it and can only find the 1st season.

, from 2002, was a great cop show, which didn't get many viewers. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes

                            .

Some people on the 19-2 board think it's similar. I can see it too.
19-2 is a Canadian cop show, based on a French Canadian show by the same name. It focuses more on characters than cop work. It's also very adult and very disturbing at times. I think there are too many sex scenes that are too graphic, but I keep watching, because some episodes arewow.

Another vote for 19-2. Similar but in a Canuk way. I don't think many things on film or TV are in the same league as Southland. The Wire is but I find the acting much better in Southland.
