Hill St Blues they only one thats similar seasonal show.
from the e80s, was a trail blazer trying to sensitively + realistically depict street cop life.
I lived in Japan for a while and it was on repeat there, Great. -

Hill Street Blues is a good call. As with Southland, it made you empathise with and invest in the characters, rather than just follow the story.

HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET, one of the best television shows ever (imo). BOOMTOWN was close but short-lived and not quite as gritty.
DETROIT 187 was pretty good too.

Some people on the 19-2 board think it's similar. I can see it too.
19-2 is a Canadian cop show, based on a French Canadian show by the same name. It focuses more on characters than cop work. It's also very adult and very disturbing at times. I think there are too many sex scenes that are too graphic, but I keep watching, because some episodes arewow.
