He was a narcissist. When you’re not able to feel much, you derive self worth from external validation called narcissistic supply. Notice how he revels in revealing his misdeeds to the police and other inmates. How much he loves the notoriety and fame. He doesn’t even like girls but he probably got off on those love letters
    Stop.

Yes, good observation. He wanted constant approval and attention, no matter what means to get it.
We are all narcissistic in some form or other, yet psycho's take it to the extreme.
This is tragic really, where not having much of an emphatic constitution and therefore a conscience, isn't really a part of one's makeup and incapable of really giving of oneself. It has to be about oneself.
Norman! What did you put in my tea?

That’s a bold statement, care to elaborate?

                Yeah… I sort of agree.
I was thinking you’d venture into the non deterministic nature of quantum probability and how it affects free will since subatomic particles seem to be governed by the future in a sense. People like to attribute the lack of free will to that, but in reality the subatomic world doesn’t govern ours. Hence the reason we haven’t found a grand unified theory or everything.
So what you said is more interesting. Cos that is actually an actual argument that is applicable on real life.
I think this governs us more than we want to accept. And it takes tremendous amounts of determination and energy to break out of it.
However free will does exist in the small scale, everyday choices like, do I have coffee or not. Or I’ll decide to get that new car.
But we can’t really choose who we fall in love it. We can pursue it, make it happen. But we can’t control the emotion. We can’t change with willpower what we are attracted to. So in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t really exist.
We are slaves to our genetic and social heritage.
Thats it, I’m going to clown college
