The director was a talentless hack obsessed with grim and gritty crap, the cast were woefully miscast, and the studio panicked when they saw how badly it was turning out. It's that simple.

. I even bought into the hype around it once. Then I realized just how weak it was. You honestly think Trank wasn't making generic garbage? I would say you should read TrollInTheDungeon's excellent thread on the subject, but I get the feeling it would just go over your head.

I'm not saying that, I'm saying that he had a vision, (for which the studio hired him for) he had to completely change his vision half way through for some generic bs of a mess instead of seeing something that we don't know would be good or bad, but something that would have a vision to it
