Canada is exposed to American media. So I would venture to say Canadians follow American football as much as we do, probably more than they do what we call "soccer" or
    futbol

That's unlikely. Outside America, European football is huge. It's probably the most watched sport in the world, by a factor of millions.

But Canadians do play American football at the league level. And they have even participated in American leagues. The American influence in Canada is obviously much greater than in Europe. You may have a point about Quebec, but not the rest of Anglicized Canada.

I thought you were talking about watching football and keeping up with the game. Anyway, better check with Corwin. I can't imagine Canadians being dumb enough to pay any attention to any American sport (except boxing and basketball, which are dominated by black guys).

Guys, to put this to bed:

            1. We follow the NFL. Lots of people also follow the World Cup
            2. Those of us who live in a city with a CFL team will walk down the street to catch the occasional game with friends.
            3. For all my life kids play soccer, not as many adults do. It's been the 'next big thing' that's never happened for about 40 years, like for you.

Yippee! My faith in Canadians has been vindicated. Though you do have a game that involves sweeping the area in front of a slowly sliding thingie. Looks quite retarded.

To me too, never played it. But I understand that there's actually a lot of drinking before and after involved.

That's okay then. That could save a game of hopscotch from adverse criticism!

The strongest athletes for competitive sports get moved or streamed into hockey.

I'm not sure why you think Corwin vindicated your position.
He said that Canadians follow the NFL and "also" the World Cup. There is also a Canadian Football League which plays American football.
As I said, Canadians are impacted by American media and culture the same or more than they are by the Europeans. The exception might be the French in Quebec.
Dude, talk to an American and a Canadian and you can barely tell them apart by accent or behavior. Canadians are more like Americans than the British.
                      Corwin said:
                      3. For all my life kids play soccer, not as many adults do. It's been the 'next big thing' that's never happened for about 40 years, like for you.
And that's like the U.S. American kids play soccer. Adults watch American football.
And notice Corwin called it "soccer" like Americans do, not "football" like you do.
