Interesting board dynamics

Bentley, I must call you out on the latent homophobia. Are you implying gay men have less testosterone than straight men? We tend to be oversexed and promiscuous, so I'd say we probably have an excess of testosterone. Just sayin'.
I'm not supporting patriarchy either.

Your position would be more relevant 70 years ago.
But I was addressing the historical reasons for the power imbalance based on gender. I said that technology and birth control have changed the dynamic.
Regardless, both you and I know that patriarchy still rules the world. It may take centuries to completely level the playing field.
And then again, if there's an apocalypse and we lose everything, we all go back to square one and biology will dictate that men rule.
This is my underlying point. Class conflict and race conflict are based on social constructs. Gender conflict is rooted in biology.

— 5 years ago(November 30, 2020 06:10 AM)Arguments in what if’s and doomsday scenarios don’t really hold weight now do they? Obviously if a zombie apocalypse happens and men and women have to fight over scraps for food the smart money is on the men to win. This isn’t an insightful take.
Now let’s talk reality. Society is getting progressively less patriarchal in Western society. There’s a sexual revolution among women, burgeoning elements of feminism expedited by social media, normalization of women in positions of power etc. Your argument is completely and arbitrarily dependent on which part of the world you’re focused on and the political climate therein. It isn’t black and white.

No, my argument doesn't change in 100 years or a thousand years because biology is a constant. We aren't going to physically evolve enough in a thousand years or ten thousand years to make a difference.
Women can only maintain physical parity to men if technology and birth control allows it. Take away technology and birth control and we're back to square one, men are the warriors, women keep the fire burning at the hearth and tend the children.
My argument is dependent on biology and that isn't gonna change. And I'm not extolling patriarchy. I'm just saying it's a fact and it isn't going anywhere any time soon.

I know Yermom. I know your mom. Lol. Not really, sorry.
Ribbit? That's not YouMightBeRabbit or some such name from IMDb is it?

Lol leave my momma alone!
I think it was just ribbit. She is actually yermom's little sister. She rarely talked politics but she was right wing.
I'm pretty sure mange was Republican too. He posted pictures of himself with guns. I know that doesn't make someone right wing necessarily -

Okay, the Rabbit guy was male.
What about Bongo? I only saw him post a little. But he seemed like an intelligent guy and he could obliterate anyone who argued with him. I think that's why Boreson compares posters like me and Chickaboom to him.
But then I heard Bongo was a right winger. Did everybody hate him or am I only hearing the angry complaints of his victims?

Bongo was moderately right-wing, but not nasty about it. He was essentially a decent guy, but he couldn't bear being teased. I am one of the few people who defeated him, on his own terms. Many others defeated him, but he would sooner die than admit it.

I loved bongo! So did twizz and ribbit. I think all the females liked bongo and some played 'words with friends' with him lol. He was polite and respectful, as far as i know.
He had a little social awkwardness that people might not have liked, like he would randomly post someone's picture but it wasn't doxxing because they had shared it at some point before. I thought he could be a little weird but harmless and generally nice
But he would fight endlessly. I wouldn't read it because it was just pages and pages lol. He would never give up, so i think if that's your fighting style then it's a good thing! -

Okay, thanks Bee. So he wasn't the horrible ogre painted by the GoT trolls. If the women liked him he had a soul.

Gameboy he was a super lefty, but also a curmudgeon and jerk to anybody he disagreed with on any issue. He despised right wingers and centrists. 1000 times more belligerent than me. I’m glad you remember him. I got into so many scraps with him years ago when I was closer to center in my politics.

Yes, that's him. I forgot his politics because I argued with him on the Religion board. Yes, he was a rather creepy old guy. Acid tongued and sarcastic. The name is annoying enough by itself.

— 5 years ago(November 29, 2020 12:48 PM)Yeah we was evil AF. A lefty with the caustic approach of an alt-right twitter pundit. American(I think) but obsessed with English media. He was fascinating. He spent most of his time on the religion board fighting everybody there. Such a regular that he knew most of the posters on a first name basis. He was a very smart person though. He used to commend me on my ability to go back and forth with him but still hated me.
I used to call him watership down and general woundwort. He admired that I was referencing obscure literature to insult his rabbit persona. 🤪
