As someone who is not patriotic at all, the US is pretty sweet despite its serious flaws. What country doesn't have flaws? I'm happy to be here although being an American isn't a special part of my identity.
If I were foreign I'd be happy to live here and acknowledge the good things this country offers. What do you think all of those Hispanic and east Indian immigrants think of living here vs their native land? They came here for a reason.
Only miserable white American academics think america is especially evil. If people don't like this country they can always move. Look at china's oppressive ways, look at Indias toxic culture influenced by the caste system. No country is perfect. People that rant about the US being especially evil are short sighted idiots. And usually American themselves suffering from some weird form of guilt.

Its all relative. Every country has its sucky aspects. I suppose the only thing you'll consider non sucky is some utopian society. Well, this will never happen. Every form of society will generate contradictions. There can never be a perfect society.

No, I believe in progress. I also believe in acknowledging the progress we have actually made instead of mainly focusing on the flaws. The attitude of dissatisfaction saying things "suck" as a general estimation of current reality, is more indicative of the person making that judgement than the reality being judged.

protesting by burning your flag is standard in the US: scotus ruled you can burn/desecrate the flag under 1st amdt immunity.
BUT the USA along with just 5 other nations permit this: canada, norway, uk, aussie, nz, and i think hungary. all of asia prohibits it. several in europe prohibit the desecration of FOREIGN flags!
so count yourself lucky you live in an enlightened nation, warts and all. oh, and get a haircut, hippie
