Bacchus is barely paying attention to the TV. He keeps it in his peripheral vision in case Shirley has a question. Instead he's focused intently on a book of 17th century French romantic poetry so he can impress his neighbor's wife, Francesca.

Remember that you are destabilizing some very unstable people by talking about me. There's Donna, there's hungry, and there's that Spelling fellow, who now claims that once you get out of secondary school, the way he has (first Spelling in six generations to go so far and all that), grammar and sentence structure don't matter!
