Yeah, it's happened with quite a few movies. Off the top of my head there was Armageddon/Deep Impact, The Illusionist/Prestige, ANTZ/A Bug's Life, Mission to Mars/Red Planet, Dante's Peak/Volcano.

I always wondered about this too. Does this happen because:
a) Ideas get pitched to different companies and get stolen.
b) Ideas in the movie business get generated by a computer program and they all use the same version.
c) Ideas get developed on decadent parties and movie producers don't remember the next morning but basically think anything written on a paper napkin is a good idea
d) Hollywood works like a recycling center / compost heap where ideas just resurface as the same beep every few years?
e) Hollywood uses some illegal website to download cracked "ideaz"?
f) It's destiny, and everything happens for a reason

No - they are not different movies! They are interconnected, done with Marvel, and all those movies ultimately connect in The Avengers!!!
Even Iron Man has some of the same characters. The real connection is that THE SAME ACTORS PLAY THE SAME ROLES IN THE DIFFERENT MOVIES.
