Happy friday, Tex (from here, anyway). I;m think of cooking a fish dish for hubby's dinner. Might try this as a side. What do you think?

The bacon talk did get to me, and then that recipe came up. I;m craving some spring cabbage.
I found the chinese food in america very different to here. Ours seems to be more singapore, shanghai and Hong Kong influenced. Yours is cleaner ie the oil you use for deep fried items doesnt leave an oil slick in the throat, but less variety somehow, or maybe a better term is simpler. It was good, though. We had a very good and amazingly cheap lobster dish in one chinese restaurant, and we stayed in flushing for a week which is like a big china town. Yum cha doesnt seem to be as popular there as here. -

Simple definitely describes it, but we're working on variety! Asian cuisine as a whole has really taken off here within the last 5 to 10 years. We're stepping away from the candied meats and embracing the culture as a whole But I still have a soft spot for orange chicken. It's good comfort food.

Oh yeah that sort of chinese here went out in the 70s. We have a very well organised chinese community here in this city and the locals embrace the authenticity. Much more like the chinese food I had travelling in china. Same in our other immigrant hot spots. It's becoming foodie heaven. Multi culturalism ROCKS.
