1.) It is overlong for what is, in the end, a remarkably simplistic story. The film is based on a short story and it feels it. Could have easily lost a good 10 to 15 minutes. Or made a 50 minute Twilight Zone or Outer Limits episode and been just as good, covering all the same material.
2.) The musical score is overwrought and overused at times. Those final 10 minutes during the so-called "shocking ending" where those piano keys and strings are pounded onto the soundtrack, basically drilling into the audience that THIS IS IMPORTANT AND MINDBLOWING!!!!!!!!!! Overbearing and completely unnecessary.
3.) Zero chemistry between Adams and Renner. Just didn't buy that whole thing by the end. Renner's Ian hardly registers as a character and more a one-dimensional plot device.
    Otherwise I liked the movie.
