It never seemed like he actually cared about the character. He was incredibly bland in all 3 of those movies; there's no trace of the guy who from American Psycho or The Machinist. He was just Generic Action Man. The voice was terrible too, but I put that more on Nolan, since he changed it in post-production.

As a person, or his Batman portrayal?
I'll overlook the voice, but I guess my only real problem is not so much his Batman, but his Bruce Wayne. And that comes down to the writing. They kept playing on the idea of him being this annoying, spoiled playboy billionaire. He started out good in BATMAN BEGINS. You'd almost believe he could also pull off the professional businessman Bruce Wayne. But it got worse with the sequels. And his clearly go nowhere relationship with Rachel was annoying because neither came out and said it was so obviously not going to happen. And her
death leading to his eight year absence was crap

That's exactly who Bruce Wayne's public persona is supposed to be. So what's the problem?
While previous portrayals of Bruce Wayne certainly have played the character as an eligible bachelor, I never thought of them as annoying, spoiled billionaires. Val Kilmer's Bruce was professional, hard working and a respected figure around Gotham City. Christian Bale's Bruce is more of a rich punk everyone reluctantly puts up with. Granted it was all an act, but it got annoying fast.

Thats all an act, Thats not how Bale's Bruce Wayne actually acts when in private. That's his public persona.
I know. But that doesn't make it any less annoying.

That he didn't throw the script for 'Nolan's knight rises' in the nearest bin and refuse to do the movie until his character was changed back from an arthritic clueless imbecile who couldn't find his own ass with both hands and a Bat-ass detector to the Bruce Wayne/Batman of TDK.
An opinion is not offensive just because you do not agree with it.
