He and Kara decided to remain just friends, the reason he and Lucy broke up is because of his feelings for Kara. That is just messed up, he left himself with no one.

You got it wrong, Lucy dumped him because she sensed there was something between he and Kara then pushed him in her direction. It was Kara who broke it off with him, he had no choice but to except it. So he ended up without someone, but it was not

My guess is that he'll end up dating Lena Luther soon. Now that he was wrong about her, she probably peaked his interest. It would be a good way to get her more on the show and give him more storyline.
