I think Americans are hyper sensitive about it now because minorities have, rightfully so to some degree, raised a fuss about it. The stakes here are such that you could lose your job and virtually your life if you say the wrong thing.
I don’t think it’s more commonplace here. It’s just got a spotlight on it.
The sense I got is Aussies don’t have the same situation there with riots and cancel culture all driven by perceived racism. So it’s just not something most people outside the US care as much about.
I went to Italy and it was so incredibly racist. France, same deal. I think the US is really beating itself up over it

No, idiot! We've fussed about it since the Abe Lincoln. We are in year 2021.

They should and the know why. History. And if they aren't reminded of the history of the slave trade and all that that went along with it, they will continue to kill off and arrest minorities in alarming rates they way it was before and keep minorites in poverty.
