FDR is the obvious choice if they add one. You can't beat the Great Depression and the New Deal coupled with World War II and the defeat of Nazism.
I know you're being sarcastic but it's too soon for Trump. You can't judge the importance of a historical figure by contemporary standards. It takes decades to put their life in context and judge their lasting legacy. For example, JFK is popular now but he was only in office two years and didn't accomplish much. In a hundred years he'll be largely forgotten.

Conservatives and many Republicans will disagree on FDR though. They'll blame him for creeping socialism. But I think you need to distance yourself from personal political judgment when you rank historical figures though. FDR's impact was monumental whether you like it or not.
I'm curious since you're a liberal, are you objective enough to say Ronald Reagan was a great president? He was important in setting a conservative agenda, and ending the Cold War.
Can you set left and right aside and acknowledge both Roosevelt and Reagan? (Not on Rushmore but in general)?

            1. Reagan is one of the main reasons for the protracted economic disparity between minority communities and white communities. He also started the BS , β€œwar on drugs” to feed the prison industrial complex. There are a hell of a lot of issues with Reagan that conservatives will obviously ignore when they worship him, because none of these things demonstrably affected white and more affluent communities.
Therefore, no I don’t agree with you on Reagan.

Overall I think Reagan was bad for the country domestically. But he did end the Cold War, a major accomplishment. You're being too partisan here. All the great Presidents were not liberal Democrats. There has to be a consensus of left and right to make that determination.

I'll argue that point. His overall policy extended the Depression in the U.S. up until WWII when parts of it had to be abandoned for practical reasons. The Depression was over much earlier in other countries.

Since Trump is a Narcissist, he will use his authority to end up on Mount Rushmore to remain forever remembered. He deserves it though.

Russell no no NO. Like I said, it's too soon to say Trump is one of the 5 greatest presidents. Wait 50 to 100 years and we'll see.
If you look at polls many American idiots are saying JFK is the greatest President of all time. That's ridiculous. He's more recent and people are emotional about him because he was assassinated and goodlooking. Let historians judge in 100 years.

Look at the 3 big challenges facing Trump: the economy, COVID, and race relations. Consider how masterfully he has handled all three of those challenges.

JFK has the benefit of the halo effect and some recency bias. The bottom line is , he was killed before he could complete many of his objectives in office.

Johnson was one of the good ones but he pushed through legislation that Kennedy would have pushed and his administration created. That’s like giving the backup quarterback credit for winning a game after the starter gets knocked out and the team already had the lead.

I’m also glad nobody said Lincoln. Lincoln didn’t really care about slavery, he only sought to preserve the Union by any means necessary and snuff out Southern insurrection. If he could have preserved the Union without outlawing slavery he would have, and he admitted this himself many times.

Lincoln is on Mount Rushmore. But he was the President who ended slavery. That he was racist himself is irrelevant.
