Gravy on fries? It's all about the cheese curds, dude.

No, it's all about the gravy. I don't care for the cheese curds.
And, the peameal bacon (which is kinda hard to find, now)

That's fine, but it ain't poutine, is it. You don't need to be in Canada to get fries with gravy.

I've always called it Gravy. I find the "poutine" term is used more in the States, then in Canada. I should tell you about the first time, I saw Gravy getting put on french fries. It's kinda funny.

I am confused. poutine is the fries, cheese, and gravy. Gravy with fries is just gravy with fries.
is it different where you are?

Nope. I just don't care for the cheese.

Weird. I have a friend in Canada who calls it poutine. He was born and raised in Nova Scotia.

I can confirm that Canadians call poutine by its name, poutine.
this thread on the Canada/US border got needlessly complicated and cheesy.

If you ask for gravy and fries, you'll get exactly that. Poutine has gravy and cheese curds, it ain't poutine without the curds.

I've only had a version made with mozzarella as a substitute for curds (couldn't find it), and it was great!

I love curds, especially when they are very fresh! They squeak when you chew them.
